Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, are two icons of the silver screen who have captivated audiences for decades. Their enduring love story is a testament to the power of commitment, trust, and shared passion. Goldie recently shared the secret behind their strong and long relationship revealing the reason to not get married.
Hawn while in a conversation with CNN’s Chris Wallace’s question about the pair’s relationship answered back with a question that reads:
“Why should we get married? Isn’t that a better question?”
She continues to explain saying she and Russell are previously married to other persons and realized that when the relationship ends it’s always ugly.
“Somebody has to take a look and say, ‘How many divorces are fun? How many divorces don’t cost money? How many divorces make you hate the person more than you did before? How many divorces have hurt children?’” she asked.
Hawn believed that relationships are hard and difficult to maintain and are a kind of hurdle that we go through. She concluded by saying:
“So I think ultimately staying independent with independent thinking is important so you can hold onto yourself and you can have that feeling.”
This is not the first time Hawn made revealed the secret behind her four decades-long relationships, previously also while interviewing People she said:
“You’ve just got to want to be together. I don’t think there’s any way other than doing it.”
“It’s not about the marriage,” she continued. “It’s about the people and the relationship, and the will to stay together. And that’s a big one because if you want it, you can have it. You’ve got to give things up, but the joy and the excitement of being together and touching the toes of somebody at night is a nice feeling.”
Meeting For the First Time
Goldie Hawn, the effervescent blonde with a contagious laugh, and Kurt Russell, the rugged and charming leading man, first crossed paths in 1968 on the set of the Disney musical “The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band.” At the time, Goldie was a rising starlet, and Kurt was a young actor on the cusp of stardom.
Hawn recalling her first meeting with Russell told People that Russell was adorable but was too young. She further added, “I remembered that I liked him very much when I first met him,” she told the publication. “But we both said we would never go out with another actor so it just shows you never can tell.”
However, it wasn’t until 1983, when they reunited on the set of the romantic comedy “Swing Shift,” that sparks truly flew between Goldie and Kurt. Their on-screen chemistry translated into a real-life romance that has spanned more than four decades.
