The Wrestle Kingdom is held annually on 04 January. In 2023, Wrestle Kingdom 17 continued its tradition, and the event was held for 2 days. The first day of the event took place on 04 January 2023 at Tokyo Dome and the second day took place on 21 January 2023 at the Yokohama Arena in Yokohama, Japan. 

Wrestle Kingdom 17 was officially revealed on 18 August 2022, during the G1 Climax finals. On 24 November, NJPW announced that the event would have a second night on 21 January at the Yokohama Arena. This event honors the company’s founder Antonio Inoki, who died in October 2022.
